Kim Tibbetts is an abstract artist turned curator.
Acrylic painting and collage are Kim’s preferred methods for layering bold, bright colors, patterns and texture to create abstract compositions. After earning a BFA in Studio Art from Millikin University, she spent 8 years in Chicago, exhibiting regularly and participating in many facets of the art community under her birth name Kim Frieders.
In 2008, Kim got married and moved 40 miles northwest to West Dundee. She went to work at the Village Hall, opened swell gallery and became a mother, the combination of which keep her very busy and engaged in the community.
Kim’s creative energies currently flow into promoting West Dundee, attempting to match the energy of young children, and of course, planning, curating and administering the exhibitions and opportunities that comprise swell.
